From 25 September to 1 October, the Tartu Student Days Festival invites new students to settle into life in Tartu and make new friends in a fun way.
The public event takes place on Thursday, 28 September, in the conference hall of the University of Tartu Library.
The Teaming centres of excellence in digitalised bioengineering and personalised medicine at the University of Tartu are expected to become lighthouses in the region, attracting the best scientists and bringing change to the innovation landscape nationally and internationally.
The University of Tartu is participating in an international project to help African countries better understand the health impacts of climate change and to develop adaptation measures.
Esmaspäeval, 11. septembril algusega kl 13.00 toimub Tartu Ülikooli aulas digitaalse bioinseneeria keskuse ning personaalmeditsiini teadus- ja arenduskeskuse avaüritus.
The University of Tartu doctoral students are invited to participate in the three-minute thesis competition on 28 September.
On August 30 at 10.30, Associate Professor Yannick Stephan from the University of Montpellier (France) will give a lecture on “Personality and Health and Cognition with Aging” as part of the “Between the Ears” lecture series.

At the beginning of August, the menu layout of the UT website was updated.
UT has completed the IT infrastructure for personalised medicine, enabling Estonian doctors and nurses to use genetic data for disease prevention and finding the best treatment plan for each person.

The international immunology summer school "ABC7: Autoimmunity, B cells and Complement" was held in Tallinn on June 14th–16th
On 27 June, the global higher education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) launched its World University Rankings 2024, adopting a methodology that has undergone considerable change. The University of Tartu is ranked 358th and again tops the list of Estonian universities.
On 19 June, the Ministry of Defence recognised the University of Tartu with the award “Supporter of defenders of the state” because, at the university, employees retain their salary during reservist training and other benefits are offered to defenders of the state.
Although several measures have been put in place to close the innovation gap between the old and the new EU member states, the gap continues to increase.

On 1 June, at the last student parliament meeting of the academic year, a new student union board was elected. Medical student Renar Kihho will be the new President of the Student Body.
Doctoral students and junior research fellows are invited to the university's 3-minute thesis competition on 28 September to present their research to the university family, the jury and the public.
