The National Research Awards Committee has approved the following researchers from the University of Tartu as nominees for this year’s research awards.

Today, on 1 December, the University of Tartu celebrates 105 years from the opening of the Estonian-language university.

Today, on 21 November, at 16:00, Rector Toomas Asser presented the university’s honorary decorations at the ceremony in the assembly hall.

On 25 October, the University of Tartu senate decided to award the University of Tartu Grand Medal to Professor of International Business Urmas Varblane. Also, the recipients of the University of Tartu Star of Appreciation, Medal, Badge of Distinction and the decoration “100 Semesters at the University of Tartu” have been announced.

The educational programme Schools in Motion of the Move Lab of the University of Tartu Faculty of Medicine was elected the Education Deed of the Year.

Until 31 October, nominations can be submitted for the “Contribution to Estonian National Identity” award.

Nominations can be submitted via the web form until 20 September.

On the eve of the anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, Rector of the University of Tartu Toomas Asser announced the university’s contribution to society award, research award and language award and the recipients of the teaching staff of the year award for 2023.

Based on the submitted proposals, the committee formed by the UT Student Union chose the recipients of the teaching staff of the year awards for 2023.

As the anniversary of the Republic of Estonia approaches, President Alar Karis bestows Estonian state decorations to 151 people, nine of whom are members of the university family.
