A cross-country skiing trail with natural snow has been opened in Maarjavälja, the area between Viljandi road and the Physicum and Chemicum buildings of the University of Tartu. All skiers are welcome to use the trail for free.

All full-time students of the University of Tartu, the University of Latvia and Vilnius University may apply for the 2,000-euro scholarship if their proficiency in one of the Baltic countries’ languages is at least at C1 level and in the other two languages at least at A2 level. Visiting international students who study at one of the three universities in both semesters of this academic year may also apply.

As possible ways forward, participants proposed strengthening digital and health literacy, providing institutional support for professionals, and raising awareness among both healthcare workers and patients.

A recent overview published by the Estonian Research Council (ETAG) reveals that Estonia has performed exceptionally well in the European Union’s framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon Europe (2021–2027). Among Estonian institutions, the University of Tartu has been the most successful participant in the programme, receiving almost €90 million in funding.

The UNCAN-Connect project (Decentralized Collaborative Network for Advancing Cancer Research and Innovation), led by the Estonian Cancer Network (ESTCAN) at the University of Tartu, aims to establish an international cancer data sharing platform to facilitate cancer prevention, monitoring, research, and treatment.

In June, all interested are invited to communal work in the Maarjavälja experimental area (between Viljandi road and the University of Tartu Physicum) and at Jaamamõisa stream.

In collaboration with the University of Tartu and the city of Tartu, the green area in the Maarjavälja district will become an urban nature oasis where residents can experience a rich natural environment without leaving the city.

The Estonian Doctoral School has received a lot of good feedback after its first year of activity from partner universities, doctoral students and supervisors.
