Estonian medical students organize the world's largest student conference

The The Estonian Medical Students’ Association organizes the main assembly of the world's largest student organization International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA) "March Meeting 2023". The conference will take place from 1.–7. March at the Viru Conference Center in Tallinn.

At the 72nd main assembly, delegates from member states will participate in workshops aimed at broadening the horizons of medical students and increasing their knowledge of public health, human rights, sexual health, medical education and the medical system. In the evening plenary sessions, organization-wide decisions are adopted and the future direction is set. More than 800 medical students from nearly 90 countries will come to Tallinn to take part in the event.

Elina Osi, the chief organizer of the conference, hopes that the conference they have organized will give medical students ideas for promoting health care in their countries and regions and the motivation to implement them.

Katariina Idla, a member of the general organization team, added that in addition to workshops and plenaries, a panel discussion on digital health care will take place during the general assembly. "The topic was chosen precisely because of our region's competence in this field, and we have worked closely with Tartu Biotechnology Park to implement it."

Before the big conference, there is a preliminary event in Tartu where approximately 150 students will take part in the training program to become official trainers of IFMSA. Event will be held in The Institute of Sport Sciences and Physiotherapy at 25.02–01.03.

Estonia has the honor of organizing the General Assembly for the second time in its history, and more than 800 medical students from nearly 90 countries around the world are invited to Tallinn to take part in the event. More than 50 EstMSA members and young doctors are involved in the organization and will do their best to make it a memorable event.

IFMSA is the umbrella organization of the association, which was established in 1951 and unites 1.3 million medical students worldwide.
